About the edition

Spain’s gateway to the international stage

The Architecture Student Contest is Saint-Gobain’s global competition for students of architecture, construction engineering, design and related disciplines. The Spain Edition gathers universities for a national selection, with finalist teams advancing to represent their country internationally.

  1. 01

    The 2026 challenge

Reimagine a former cement-factory site in Belgrade as an open, inclusive and sustainable sports and recreation centre, while integrating the existing nautical club.

  2. 02

    Who can take part

Undergraduate and master’s students in architecture, building engineering, design and related disciplines may enter individually or in teams of up to three.

  3. 03

    Spain national stage

Held in Madrid on 24 April 2026. Selected finalists represent their university and country at the international stage in Belgrade.

Design priorities

Design for people and the planet

Projects should balance performance, regeneration and lived comfort — with construction choices that hold up under real scrutiny.

Low-carbon performance

Create a high-performing, resource-conscious proposal and address embodied and operational carbon across the lifecycle.

Urban regeneration

Support a meaningful public realm and reconnect the site to the city through open, inclusive space.

Comfort & craft

Improve thermal, visual and acoustic comfort, indoor-air quality, and resolve coherent construction details.
